Notary Public Education

This course is designed to provide instruction to individuals who want to become commissioned as a Notary Public. Topics include legal, ethical and procedural requirements of the Notary Act. Upon completion of this course with a passing exam grade of 80%, a person is eligible to make application with the NC Secretary of State office. For more information, go to www.secretary.state.nc.us/notary/. PREREQUISITE: Students must provide current state or federal picture identification for admission to class. The active duty military and civilian ID cards DO NOT meet the identification requirement. The ID must be a valid ID with a picture of the individuals face and either signature or physical descriptors or both. NOTE: The current edition of the Notary Public Manual for North Carolina, March 2016, is required for admittance to the class and can be purchased at the BCC Bookstore.
