Nurse Aide Level II

This course is designed to prepare graduates to perform more complex skills for patients or residents regardless of the setting. A skill/competency evaluation is required for documenting student competency. The course includes class, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. Upon satisfactory completion of the course and skill/competency evaluation, the graduate is eligible to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Registry. In all employment settings, the listed Nursing Assistant II will work under the direction and supervision of licensed personnel. PREREQUISITE: High School Diploma or GED and listed on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.

Course Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent,

Currently listed on NC Nurse Aide I Registry

Textbook Required:

The North Carolina Nurse Aide II

Clinical Requirements:

Current Healthcare Provider CPR Certification

Health Physical (form provided)

Negative Random Drug Screen (testing scheduled by school)

Criminal Background Check (testing scheduled by school)

Immunization Record to include:

MMR

DTP

TB Skin Test (within the past year)

Tetanus (Td booster within the past 10 years)

Hepatitis B

Influenza

            COVID vaccinations

            Varicella vaccination or titer

Clinical Dress Code:

Dark green scrubs, either pants or skirts. Skirt hem must be no higher than the bottom of the knee. No other scrub colors or printed tops allowed.

Shoes must be completely white, low-cut, and soft soled. No canvas type, open toes, or open back shoes may be worn. 

Course Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant Level II course provides training in select nursing skills. Emphasis is placed on sterile technique, respiratory procedures, catheterization, wound care, trach care, and ostomy care. The course includes class, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences. Upon successful completion of course and competency evaluation students may apply to the North Carolina State Board of Nursing for certification at https://www.ncbon.com/licensure-listing-overview.
